RING OF KERRY: After breakfast this morning, you can have a completely free day to independently explore or you can enjoy an excursion on one of Ireland’s most popular and beautiful drives, the Ring of Kerry. Traveling from Killarney we come to the town of Killorglin, famous for “Puck Fair” and from here we commence the ring tour. Our drive is along the coastline of the broad Iveragh Peninsula, through the towns of Glenveagh, Cahirciveen, Waterville and Sneem. The scenery is spectacular as wind-swept cliffs, still lakes, lost valleys and rocky mountains blend in awesome beauty. As one looks around it is easy to agree with the old Irish saying, “even if a man has only a small bit of earth here, he has a lot of the heavens”. From Sneem, we continue via “ladies View” back to Killarney for your dinner and overnight. |

Day 06 Saturday October 23:

KILLARNEY – HOWTH: Today, you will leave the beauty of Killarney behind and depart for Dublin, Ireland’s capital city. Our drive is through the market towns of County Limerick, Tipperary, Laois and Kildare as we drive across the central plains of Ireland. Continue to the suburb city of Howth where you will check into your hotel. Tonight dinner will be on your own. Overnight at the Deer Park Hotel in Howth. HOWTH(rhymes with both), is a fishing and yachting port, and popular suburban resort on the north side of Howth Head, 15km (9½ miles north-east of the city centre. Its attractions are easily appreciated, particularly at the coast. Howth Head gives fine views of Dublin Bay and the Wicklow Mountains or Boyne Valley beyond. In the bay is the rocky bird sanctuary and monastic island of Ireland's, to which boat trips may be taken in summer. Cliff paths lead around the coastline, through Howth village and its ruined abbey, and past Baily Lighthouse. The 15th-century Howth Castle is inland, partly ruinous, but with fine rhododendron gardens. A small, but impressive. A traditional pub in Howth transport museum can be visited near the DART railway station, featuring Howth's famous open-topped tram. |
